This notice explains what Charleston Digital Defense (“CDD”, “we”) collects through this website, why, and the choices you have. Questions: info@charlestondigitaldefense.org.
What we collect
- Mailing list. If you sign up for updates, we keep your email address to send you CDD news.
- Intake and assessment form. If you fill in the form, we keep what you enter. That includes company and contact details, your answers about South Carolina presence and ownership, any stakeholders you list, the technology areas you choose, and your scores and notes. We use it to assess fit and to follow up with you.
- Basic technical data. Like most websites, our servers see your IP address and browser details. We use them to run the site and prevent abuse, for example by limiting repeated form submissions.
Unclassified information only. Do not enter Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), classified information, or export-controlled technical data anywhere on this site. See our Terms of Use.
Saved drafts and email codes
If you save your intake progress, we email you a private link so you can return to it. The link works until you submit. If you haven’t used your draft for a week, or before you submit an assessment, we may email you a short code to confirm the address is yours. Your browser stores only a reference to your draft, never your answers. You can delete a saved draft at any time from the form.
Cookies
We use a few necessary cookies to run the site. They keep your session secure, remember a draft in progress, and remember your cookie choice. They do not track you across other websites.
If you allow it, we also use Google reCAPTCHA on our forms to keep out spam bots. reCAPTCHA sets Google cookies and sends Google information about your visit, which Google handles under its own privacy policy. If you decline, reCAPTCHA is not loaded and the forms still work. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings, also linked at the bottom of every page.
How we share information
We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers that help us run CDD:
- our website hosting and database providers;
- Mailjet, which sends our emails;
- Google Workspace, where the CDD team reviews intake submissions;
- Google reCAPTCHA, only if you allow it.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or with your permission. For example, we might introduce you to a partner you asked to meet.
How long we keep it
We keep intake records and mailing-list details for as long as they are useful for CDD’s programs, or until you ask us to delete them.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards such as encrypted connections and access controls. No website is perfectly secure, so please share only what is needed.
Children
This site is meant for businesses and professionals. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
To see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to unsubscribe, email info@charlestondigitaldefense.org. Every mailing-list email also has an unsubscribe link.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
